Job summary

Ty Trafle School in Swansea seeks a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and SEMH in a therapeutic, small-group setting.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to plan, deliver, and assess meaningful activities, provide 1:1 support where needed, and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment. DBS enhanced required.

Full-time, 34 hours per week, with opportunities to specialise in ASD or SEMH pathways, and full training provided.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) are valued.
• Experience in ASD, SEMH, or SEN welcomed but training will be provided.
• Strong communication skills, calm approach, and willingness to work as part of a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching staff with planning, delivering, and assessing meaningful learning activities.
• Provide personalised support to pupils with ASD or SEMH needs, in both small group and 1:1 contexts.
• Build nurturing, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
• Support daily routines, including personal care where needed, and take part in off-site enrichment activities.
• Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive behaviour using creative, therapeutic approaches.
• Contribute to creating a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment.
