Job summary

Shalford Infant & Nursery School in Surrey is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to help young children across Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

You will work with teachers to make lessons accessible, support SEND learners, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school community. No prior school experience is required, but warmth, reliability and a commitment to children’s progress are essential.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required; caring attitude and reliability are essential.
• Experience with children or SEND would be an advantage.
• Willingness to work with children across Nursery to Year 2 and support learning.

Responsibilities

• support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning;
• work with individual children and small groups to reinforce learning;
• support children with SEND to access the curriculum and develop independence;
• deliver planned interventions under the direction of teachers and the SENDCo;
• support early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics;
• help children develop their communication, social and emotional skills;
• contribute observations and feedback to help teachers understand children's progress;
• support children during lunchtime and playtimes; and
• contribute to the wider life of our school.
