Job summary

Shalford Infant School in Guildford is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA to take on varied teaching responsibilities for Nursery to Year 2. You will deliver lessons, run interventions, and support teachers with planned and emergency cover while maintaining high expectations.

You will support pupils with SEND, help them access the curriculum, and contribute to inclusive practice across the school. DBS checks and safeguarding procedures are a priority.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or HLTA qualification is desirable.
• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Ability to work as part of a supportive school team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to individuals, groups and whole classes.
• Provide planned and emergency short-term teacher cover when needed.
• Deliver targeted interventions, particularly for pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils to access the curriculum and develop independence.
• Assess learning and provide feedback to teachers.
• Support early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics.
• Help pupils develop positive learning behaviours.
• Contribute to inclusive practice across the school.
• Support pupils during lunch and playtimes.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school.
