Job summary

TimePlan Education Group is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND in a Southampton school. The role is a full-time, temporary ongoing position, providing 1:1 support and small group assistance under the guidance of teachers, the SENDCo, and other professionals.

You will help implement IEPs, promote inclusive learning, and contribute to safeguarding. Relevant education or SEND training is desirable; care-based or school-based experience welcomed.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but care-based also considered)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEND are desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and learning difficulties
  • Support pupils in the classroom, helping them to engage with learning activities
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Liaise effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistants to join a supportive school setting in Southampton. This is a full-time, temporary ongoing position, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to access learning and reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Key Responsibilities

Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and learning difficulties

Support pupils in the classroom, helping them to engage with learning activities

Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies

Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

Liaise effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals
