Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: Southampton

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a SEND school in Southampton, supporting their recruitment for a SEND Learning Support Assistant / LSA. The setting focuses on pupils' development, with a desire to make progress academically and in their emotional, social, and behavioural skills.

The outstanding school is seeking a passionate team player for this long-term role. The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant / LSA will bring new skills, be keen to develop their abilities to meet children's individual needs, and have a positive impact on the wider school.

The position involves working with students across all Key Stages, including those diagnosed with ASD, attachment difficulties, social, emotional, mental health needs, and challenging behaviours. A proactive thinker who can confidently manage situations is essential. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, providing emotional and academic support, including breaking down learning, using strategies and behaviour plans, and applying therapeutic techniques.

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant / SEND LSA will:

• Build strong, supportive relationships with young people to assist them academically and emotionally.
• Model high standards of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
• Support safeguarding and welfare by following school policies and procedures.
• Assist students with their individual behaviour plans and strategies.
• Act proactively to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
• Communicate effectively with the Senior Leadership Team, staff, parents, and external agencies when needed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed student records promptly.
• Demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem-solving.
