Job summary

TimePlan Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join SEN schools across Portsmouth and Hampshire. The role involves 1:1 support and small group work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo, starting ASAP.

You will help pupils with a range of needs, contribute to the implementation of IEPs, promote inclusive learning, and work as part of a supportive team. This full-time temporary position offers ongoing opportunities and CPD training.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable)
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Qualifications or training in education or SEND desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (Ongoing)

Start Date: ASAP

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistants to work in SEN schools across Portsmouth and Hampshire. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and learning difficulties
  • Support pupils in the classroom, helping them to engage with learning activities
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Liaise effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals
Requirements
