Job summary

TimePlan Education in Totton, Southampton is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND in the classroom. This full‑time, temporary (ongoing) role starts ASAP and offers ongoing temporary work with potential for extension.

You will help implement IEPs, promote positive behaviour, and work closely with teaching staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment. Experience with SEND is preferred; patience, empathy, and teamwork are essential, and safeguarding

• Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and learning difficulties
• Support pupils in the classroom, helping them to engage with learning activities
• Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
• Liaise effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but care-based also considered)
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEND are desirable but not essential
