Job summary

TimePlan Education is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a Totton-based school in Southampton. This full-time, temporary role starts ASAP and offers ongoing temporary work with potential extensions and permanent opportunities.

You will support pupils with a range of SEND, contribute to IEP implementation, and work closely with staff to create an inclusive learning environment. CPD opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND; school-based preferred.
• Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and learning difficulties
• Support pupils in the classroom, helping them to engage with learning activities
• Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
• Liaise effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but care-based also considered)
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEND are desirable but not essential
