Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a welcoming SEN school in Thornbury. You will support pupils with Autism, SEMH, and other needs, helping them participate in lessons, develop communication, and build independence.

The role offers ongoing training and professional development, a dedicated consultant to support you throughout your placement, and opportunities for long-term or permanent positions. Flexible hours and a supportive team are available.

Qualifications

• Experience with children with special educational needs (SEN) or related care/youth work is desirable.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach to learning support.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
• Communication and Interaction needs

You will help create a positive learning environment, support students both in and out of the classroom, and encourage independence and personal development.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who:

• Are patient, caring and resilient
• Have a passion for supporting children and young people
• Have experience working with SEN, care, youth work, coaching, support work or similar backgrounds (desirable but not essential)
• Can build positive relationships with students and staff
• Are committed to promoting the wellbeing and success of every learner

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
