Job summary

Reed is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant in South East London to support learners with SEND. This part-time role (3 days per week) focuses on enabling access to education, developing skills, and promoting independence within college services and activities.

You will provide person-centred support, assist with personal care or mobility, and work with individuals or small groups to meet diverse needs. This is a role in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proven ability to build positive, trust-based relationships with learners, staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
  • Experience working in a multicultural community and understanding safeguarding, discrimination, and barriers faced by learners with additional needs.
  • Confidence in supporting learners with personal care and mobility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to stay calm and professional in various situations.
  • Good organisational skills, reliable IT abilities, and sound administrative practice.
  • Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or FE setting desirable, but transferable skills welcome.

Learning Support Assistant

  • Job Type: Part-time (3 days per week)
  • Location: South East London
  • Salary: £15.55 - £17.75 per hour (umbrella)

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team, providing high-quality support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role is instrumental in enabling learners to access and achieve within their educational programmes and engage fully with college services and activities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide person-centred support to learners with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Assist some learners with personal care or mobility, approaching each task with sensitivity, respect, and dignity.
  • Work with individuals or small groups, adapting your style to meet diverse needs and encouraging learners to develop independence where possible.
  • Support the development of learning and study skills in line with outcomes identified in their Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proven ability to build positive, trust-based relationships with learners, staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
