  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing.
  • Support students during lessons, break times, and educational outings.
  • Assist with personal care where required.

Learning Support Assistant (SEN)

Southwark, South London

£100 - £130 per day (dependent on experience)

Full-Time | Term Time Only

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Southwark. This rewarding opportunity involves supporting young learners with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech and Language needs, and other additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
  • Support pupils's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Follow individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing.
  • Support students during lessons, break times, and educational outings.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Previous SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or a related field are welcomed.
