Job summary

Guillemont Junior School in Farnborough is seeking a Learning Support Assistant 1:1 and Lunchtime Assistant to start in September 2026. The role includes 1:1 support in the resourced provision for Speech, Language and Communication needs, and a 30-minute lunchtime supervision.

You will work closely with the class teacher to enable inclusion, deliver targeted interventions, plan and review Learning Plans, and contribute to the development of children's social and self-help skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with children; special needs experience is desirable but not essential.
  • GCSE Maths and English at A-C; good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to implement learning activities to access the planned curriculum.
  • Support the development of children's social and self-help skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support in education within the classroom and RP provision.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and plan/review with the class teacher.
  • Undertake 30 minutes supervision of children at lunchtimes as directed.
  • Work with inclusion RP managers and teachers to contribute to Learning Plans.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies under teacher guidance.
  • Help children develop social interactions and participate in activities.

Learning Support Assistant 1:1 and Lunchtime AssistantStart Date: September 2026

Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31.08.2027

Hours: LSA – In class 28.33 Lunchtime 2.5 hours per week. Term time, including Insets + one week

Grade: B3

Salary: Actual Salary £18,367 (FTE £25,128) Guillemont Junior School is a vibrant, supportive and inclusive mainstream school set in beautiful grounds. We have two Resourced Provisions: one for Speech Language and Communication Needs and one for Autism. We are part of a federation with Pinewood Infant School, providing additional opportunities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and flexible learning support assistant (LSA) with good communication skills to join our dedicated and hardworking team. Starting in September 2026, this role will be primarily within our resourced provision for children with Speech, Language, and Communication needs.The successful candidate will be able to ensure that a child is supported on a 1:1 basis in their education, facilitating their inclusion within the classroom and delivering specific, targeted interventions. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with the class teacher to ensure the student can thrive alongside their peers while also supporting other children in the class.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Have some experience of working with children, (special needs experience is desirable but not essential).
  • Demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills, (GCSE Grades A-C in Maths & English).
  • Implement learning activities to enable the children to have access to the planned curriculum.
  • Help the children to develop social skills and appropriate interactions with peers.
  • Have a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Have the ability to support the development of the children's social and self-help skills.
  • Use a variety of positive behaviour management strategies under guidance of the teachers.
  • Work closely with and be accountable to the class teacher, who will give guidance on the nature and extent of the support and supervision.
  • Undertake 30 minutes supervision of children at lunchtimes as directed.
  • Plan and review regularly with the class teacher.
  • Meet regularly with the inclusion manager, RP manager and RP teachers and contribute to children’s Learning Plans.
