Job summary

Mendip Green Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across mainstream and specialist resources. The role involves one-to-one support, small group interventions and collaboration with teaching staff in a nurturing environment.

This opportunity would suit individuals seeking a career change who are passionate about supporting children and making a genuine difference to their education, development and wellbeing. We welcome applications from people with transferable skills and experience gained in education, childcare, healthcare, social care, the NHS, youth work, community support, or voluntary roles working with children and young people. We also welcome applications from college leavers who hold a Level 2/3 qualification in Education, Early Years, Childcare, Health and Social Care, or related subjects.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding learning support assistant position working across both our mainstream provision and our specialist Hearing and Language Resource Base and Autism Resource Base.

You will:

  • Provide one-to-one support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and small group support.
  • Support teaching and learning within our specialist resource hub.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN professionals and support staff.
  • Help pupils develop communication, social and emotional skills.

Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only (job share considered)

Interview Date: 29 September 2026

Contract: 11-month fixed-term contract (with potential extension subject to external funding)
