We are seeking a calm, compassionate, and highly committed Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil at a welcoming, inclusive, and forward‑thinking primary school in Melksham. With supportive staff and excellent facilities, this school offers an inspiring environment in which to make a real impact.

This role centres on delivering consistent, individualised support that empowers the pupil to thrive in a nurturing, secure, and engaging learning environment. Full‑time availability is preferred but not essential.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted one‑to‑one support tailored to the pupil’s individual learning, social, and emotional needs.
  • Build a trusting, positive, and motivational relationship to help the pupil develop confidence and make meaningful progress.
  • Collaborate proactively with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement effective behaviour support and personalised learning strategies.
  • Ensure the pupil always feels heard, understood, respected, and valued.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment where all learners can succeed.
What We’re Looking For

  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to behaviour, wellbeing, and learning.
  • A strong commitment to delivering consistent, high‑quality, child‑centred support.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and families.

  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • If you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
Benefits and Support
  • Free DBS (refunded when you work 20 days).
  • Recommending a friend bonus scheme.
  • Specialist support/mentoring while you are working.
  • Free specialised training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, Autism Awareness, and more.
