Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a special needs school near Horsham. You will support pupils aged 5-18 with a variety of learning difficulties, following teacher plans and delivering interactive activities to access the curriculum.

This permanent role is term-time only and offers on-site parking, funded training, and clear progression opportunities. DBS checks and UK work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with learners who have learning difficulties (SEND).
• GCSE Maths and English are required.
• Eligibility to work in the UK is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching assistance according to planning.
• Work 1:1 with students.
• Deliver group and/or individual activities planned by the teacher.
• Support learners to develop work and well-being within the school structure.
• Monitor and evaluate students' learning under teacher guidance.
• Assist teachers with classroom management to create a purposeful learning environment.
• Support all learners in their structured work across curriculum areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing teaching assistance defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning
• Working 1:1 with students
• Providing group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
• Working individually with learners/students to develop work.
• Supporting the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
• Monitoring and evaluating students learning under the guidance of the teacher
• Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
• Supporting all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

Key skills and experience needed:

• The ability to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
• An understanding of the students with special needs
• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
• Confidence to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects
• The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
• Flexibility in their approach to education
• Experience working in SEND settings is desirable but not essential
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• GSCE Maths and English
