Job summary

Bridge College, part of Together Trust, seeks a Learning Support Assistant to help students with learning needs on a 34.5-hour week across 39 weeks, based in Manchester. The role covers 1-1 and group support, plus duties across therapy and leisure facilities and residential courses.

Starting salary is pro-rated; full-time equivalent around £26,230. We value equity, wellbeing and ongoing development with extensive CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting students with learning difficulties.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with young adults with additional needs.
• Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks (DBS) and related training.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to students by removing barriers to learning and assisting transitions.
• Contribute to planning, recording and evidencing progression.
• Support timetable activities, including swimming, hydrotherapy, and residential sessions.
• Maintain records using Data Bridge and college information systems.
• Assist with planning and review processes.
• Liaise with families and carers while maintaining confidentiality.

The role of a Learning Support Assistant is to provide support for students in their learning which includes their extended curriculum, external placements and visits, 1-1 and small group sessions, under direction of a session leader. You will also support students with the full range of communication systems, eating and drinking, personal care, mobility, medication and therapy subject to supervision and training.

Hours - 34.5 hours per week worked over 39 weeks per year (term time role)

Monday 08:30-4:00pm Tuesday – Friday 08:30am – 3:15pm.

Starting salary - £21,101.62 (salary already pro-rated to working weeks worked) The full time equivalent is £26,230 per annum.

Key tasks within this role are:

• To provide support and guidance to the young people by removing barriers to their learning as well as supporting and facilitating changes and transitions along the journey of excellence.
• Contributing to all relevant aspects of planning, recording and evidencing progression
• Be an active participant in supporting the timetable in all it’s different contexts - assisting and supporting students within learning environments including swimming and hydrotherapy in the College’s purpose-built pool and other therapy and/or leisure facilities and on residential courses.
• Maintaining records using Data bridge and other college information and recording systems.
• Contribute to planning and review processes.
• Liaising with families, carers and others as necessary and with regard for the confidentiality required by the college and the Together Trust.
