Job summary

The Manchester College in Salford Quays is seeking a dedicated Job Coach to support Foundation Learning and Student Support. You will work with learners with diverse needs across classroom and work placements to build employability skills, confidence and independence, providing one-to-one coaching and liaising with employers to create meaningful work experiences.

This permanent, full-time role (35 hours per week, term-time only over 39 weeks) involves travelling between placements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Experience of working with young people and adults with a SEND in an education environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• A deep level of empathy and the ability to support learners’ goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one coaching to learners.

Join our dedicated Foundation Learning and Student Support team as a Job Coach and make a real difference in students' futures. We're looking for an enthusiastic, patient, and proactive individual to support learners with diverse needs in developing their employability skills. You'll work closely with students in classroom and workplace settings, building confidence and preparing them for successful, sustainable employment. Your role will include one-to-one coaching, liaising with employers, and helping students overcome barriers to work. Experience of working with young people with additional learning needs is desirable, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Foundation Learning and Student Support Department as a Job Coach on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week), term-time only basis (over 39 weeks).

The role is based at Salford Quays and will involve travel between work experience placements in the vicinity of here.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Minimum of a Level 2 support qualification in a specialist area or equivalent experience or willingness to obtain a Level 2 support qualification in a specialist area.


• Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.


• Experience of working with young people and adults with a SEND in an education environment.


• Experience and knowledge, empathy and understanding of the specific issues relating to the education of young people and adults with a SEND.


• Experienced and competent in the use of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite.


• Knowledge of specific assistive technology or specialist software in supporting learners with a SEND.


• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.


• A deep level of empathy, creating an environment where learners feel thoroughly understood and supported.


• Ability to communicate effectively with learners to ascertain their needs and ambitions, relay information and provide constructive feedback.


• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with parents, carers, teachers, employers, and other educational professionals.


• Ability to analyse and evaluate performance (their own and that of their learners) to gauge and direct progress.


• Adaptability and the willingness to implement a variety of strategies and methodologies tailored to each learner's goals and adjust techniques and strategies dynamically to address the evolving challenges and aspirations of each learner.


• Creativity to develop innovative and engaging strategies to motivate all learners.


• Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of delivered support for individual learners.


• Ability to self-evaluate and make necessary adaptations to own practice and make suggestions to others.


• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support a culture of teamwork within a multi-disciplinary environment.
