Job summary

Bridge College, part of Together Trust, in Openshaw, Manchester, is seeking a Music and Performance Facilitator to develop and deliver music, drama and performing arts for students aged 16 to 25 with disabilities and complex needs.

You will plan sessions, lead performances, support work experience and adapt activities to individual learners, with evening or out-of-hours work occasionally.

Qualifications

• A Level 3/4 vocational qualification.
• Experience of working in education with groups of young people with additional needs.
• Experience of planning and delivering activities for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience in vocational or work-based learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging music and drama sessions, tailored to learners' needs.
• Deliver activities covering singing, instrumental skills, music technology, composition, improvisation, storytelling, script work and performance.
• Lead the development of Bridge College's performing arts offer.
• Support students to develop and participate in performances, productions and showcases.
• Create opportunities for students to develop work-based learning and enterprise skills within performing arts.
• Support students with rehearsing, staging, sound, lighting and other performance-related activities.
• Use learning support plans and communication strategies to support performances, workshops and enterprise activities, including occasional evenings or out-of-hours work.

Bridge College promotes a multidisciplinary approach to learning and has expertise in supporting students with a wide range of needs, we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Music and Performance Facilitator to join the team at Bridge College in Openshaw, Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for performing arts who wants to use their skills to make a real difference to young people with learning disabilities and autism.

You will play a key role in developing and delivering our music, drama and performing arts offer, creating engaging opportunities for students to build their confidence, develop practical skills and experience the world of work.

From music sessions and drama workshops to performances, showcases and community projects, you will help students explore their creativity and develop skills that can support their future aspirations.

What will you be doing?

• Plan and deliver engaging music and drama sessions, adapted to the individual needs and abilities of our learners.
• Deliver activities covering singing, instrumental skills, music technology, composition, improvisation, storytelling, script work and performance.
• Lead the development of Bridge College's performing arts offer, helping to create an exciting and inclusive vocational learning environment.
• Support students to develop and participate in performances, productions and showcases for peers, families and the wider community.
• Create opportunities for students to develop work-based learning and enterprise skills within performing arts.
• Support students with rehearsing, staging, sound, lighting and other performance-related activities.
• Use learning support plans and communication strategies to understand and Support the running of performances, workshops and other enterprise activities, which may occasionally require evening or out-of-hours working.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is creative, enthusiastic and passionate about using music and drama to engage young people. You will ideally have:

• A Level 3 or 4 qualification in a relevant vocational area.
• Experience of working within an education setting and supporting or facilitating groups of young people with additional needs.
• Experience of planning and delivering activities for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience of facilitating vocational or work-based learning environments.
• The ability to adapt activities and communication approaches to meet a wide range of learning, communication and cognitive needs.
• A commitment to continuous professional development and to the ethos and values of Bridge College and Together Trust.
• Experience or knowledge of Makaton, sign language, TEACCH, Intensive Interaction or other approaches used to support autistic learners would be advantageous.
