Job summary

Aspire People are supporting a specialist SEND School in St Helens to appoint Learning Support Assistants for long-term, full-time roles.

You will provide personalised 1:1 support to students across the college day, helping with learning, communication, wellbeing and independence. The role offers stable 8:30am-4:30pm hours, term-time benefits, and ongoing CPD opportunities through Aspire People.

Qualifications

• We’re keen to hear from people with experience in SEND, education, care, youth work, residential support or similar settings.
• You’ll ideally be patient, resilient and compassionate, with confidence supporting young people on a 1:1 basis and a genuine interest in helping them develop independence.
• Previous SEND experience is desirable, but transferable experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised 1:1 support throughout the college day, helping students with learning, communication, wellbeing and independence.
• Support delivery of practical and vocational activities such as caf and customer service, woodwork, landscaping, animal care, and employability skills.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help students overcome barriers and achieve goals.

Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEND to develop their confidence, independence and life skills?

Aspire People are working with a specialist SEND School in St Helens, seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants for long-term, full-time positions.

Throughout the autumn term, with schools needing immediate starts, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a setting focused on preparing young people for life beyond education.

The Role

You’ll provide personalised 1:1 support throughout the college day, helping students with learning, communication, wellbeing and independence.

The school offers a range of practical and vocational activities, including:

• Caf and customer service
• Woodwork and practical workshops
• Landscaping and outdoor activities
• Animal care
• Employability and preparation-for-adulthood skills
