Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Sefton to start in September 2026. You will support pupils with SEND across the primary age range, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to enable access to learning and help pupils meet their targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary setting.
  • Ability to collaborate with class teachers and SENCOs.
  • Willingness to obtain/hold Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND in a primary setting under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties.
  • Support children with challenging behaviours with patience and nurture.
  • Demonstrate clear communication and teamwork with teachers, parents, and professionals.
  • Hold or obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEN)

Location: Sefton

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-Time

Duration: September 2026 - October Half Term (with the potential to be extended for the right candidate)

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sefton from September 2026.

This is a full-time role supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the primary age range. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, helping pupils to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual targets. The position is initially until October Half Term, with the opportunity to continue beyond this for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Be clear about responsibilities: support pupils with SEND in a primary setting, working with the class teacher and the SENCO to implement tailored strategies.
  • Assist pupils with SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or moderate learning difficulties.
  • Support children with additional needs, including those who may display challenging behaviours.
  • Be patient, resilient, and nurturing, with a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, working effectively alongside teachers, the SENCO, parents, and other professionals.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
