Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting Learning Support Assistants for a specialist SEND School in St Helens. This long-term, full-time role offers daily 8:30am–4:30pm support to students with SEND, with immediate starts available throughout the autumn term.

Learning Support Assistant - Specialist SEND School

Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEND to develop their confidence, independence and life skills?

Aspire People are working with a specialist SEND School in St Helens, seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants for long-term, full-time positions.

Throughout the autumn term, with schools needing immediate starts, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a setting focused on preparing young people for life beyond education.

The Role

You'll provide personalised 1:1 support throughout the college day, helping students with learning, communication, wellbeing and independence.

The school offers a range of practical and vocational activities, including:

• Café and customer service
• Woodwork and practical workshops
• Landscaping and outdoor activities
• Animal care
• Employability and preparation-for-adulthood skills

You'll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help students overcome barriers and achieve their individual goals.

We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from people with experience in SEND, education, care, youth work, residential support or similar settings.

You’ll ideally be patient, resilient and compassionate, with confidence supporting young people on a 1:1 basis and a genuine interest in helping them develop independence.

Previous SEND experience is desirable, but transferable experience will be considered.
