Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a Senior Learning Support Assistant to lead and coordinate pupil support across Swindon and Wiltshire from September 2026. The role combines hands-on classroom support with mentoring responsibilities and collaboration with teachers and SEND professionals.

You will promote inclusion, wellbeing and positive behaviour while maintaining accurate progress records and supporting a flexible portfolio of day-to-day and long-term placements.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Ability to mentor colleagues, coordinate interventions and contribute to pupil-support planning.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive practice.
• Excellent communication, organisation, record-keeping and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity to provide skilled learning support while helping to maintain consistent practice across a team. You may coordinate interventions, mentor support staff, contribute to pupil plans and reviews, liaise with teachers and SEND professionals, and provide focused one-to-one or small-group support. You will promote independence, well-being and positive behaviour while keeping accurate records of progress and support.
