Academics are currently recruiting a SEN Learning Support Assistant to work across client SEMH schools in Ashford, supporting children with additional needs. The role involves helping pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs, and contributing to a calm, supportive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour, be calm, patient and resilient, and may hold an Enhanced DBS. Availability 4–5 days per week and a driving licence are desirable.

Learning Support Assistant - SEN

Learning Support Assistant - Ashford

Academics are currently recruiting SEN Learning Support Assistant to work across a number of client SEMH schools in Ashford, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs !

These schools are looking for dedicated, patient and resilient individuals who can provide consistent support to pupils who may struggle within a mainstream educational environment. The successful candidates will have a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and develop both academically and personally.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties or complex SEN. Experience within an SEN school, mainstream school, residential setting, youth work, care or similar environment would also be highly valued.

The role will involve:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
  • Supporting young people with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Helping pupils manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting learning and encouraging engagement in lessons
  • Working alongside teachers and wider support staff
  • Helping maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and appropriate social skills
The ideal candidate:
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people as a Learning Support Assistant / TA
  • Has experience with SEN, SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Is calm, patient, resilient and consistent
  • Is confident managing challenging situations
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils
  • Has an Enhanced DBS or is willing to obtain one
  • Is available 4-5 days per week, Monday-Friday
  • Has a full driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
