Job summary

Rookwood School Trust Ltd in Andover is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the Prep School. You will support pupils across year groups, helping meet educational, pastoral and developmental needs, working with teachers and the Prep School leadership team to ensure pupils reach their potential.

Candidates with experience in SEND/EAL and prior TA experience are encouraged. The role is 35 hours per week, term-time only, starting 1 January 2027, at Rookwood School, Weyhill Road, Andover.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a SEND setting would be advantageous.
• Experience of supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND and EAL, would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils both in and out of lessons.
• Assist pupils on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups within the classroom environment.
• Work alongside teachers to support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
• Support pupils with a range of abilities and educational needs, including SEND and EAL.
• Help monitor pupil progress and support learning and development across the curriculum.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
• Contribute to the pastoral care and wellbeing of pupils.
• Support the wider life of the Prep School, including educational visits and school activities where required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external agencies where appropriate.
• Undertake a shared responsibility for health and safety.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring and committed individual to join us at Rookwood School as a Learning Support Assistant. Working within the Prep School, you will support pupils across all year groups, helping to meet a range of educational, pastoral and developmental needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the Prep School leadership team to ensure pupils are fully supported and able to achieve their full potential.
