Job summary

Copper Fields School, part of Outcomes First Group, is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to help pupils aged 4-16 with autism and language needs. You’ll work 1:1 or in small groups, supporting learning, independence and confidence in a nurturing environment.

Role involves collaborative planning with teachers, promoting wellbeing and safeguarding, and contributing to wider learning opportunities. Prior SEN experience is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an SEN educational setting is desirable.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and families.
  • Patience, compassion and resilience when supporting learners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Deliver personalised learning experiences meeting a range of additional needs.
  • Build trusting relationships to encourage confidence and participation.
  • Support social, emotional and behavioural development with nurturing approaches.
  • Prepare stimulating classrooms, resources and activities to inspire curiosity.
  • Contribute to the implementation and review of education and support plans.
  • Monitor progress and share observations to shape outcomes.
  • Support educational visits and enrichment activities.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster a supportive team culture.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences that meet a range of additional needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence, participation and self-belief.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development using consistent and nurturing approaches.
  • Help prepare stimulating classrooms, resources and activities that inspire curiosity and engagement.
  • Contribute to the implementation and review of individual education and support plans.
  • Monitor progress and share observations to help shape the best outcomes for every pupil.
  • Support educational visits, enrichment activities and wider learning opportunities.
  • Promote high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing ideas and contributing to a supportive team culture.

Experience working in an SEN educational setting is desirable, but not essential.
