Job summary

Outcomes First Group is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for Fieldstone School in Ashburton. You will support children with SEN, helping them access learning and develop confidence and resilience, working with teachers and therapists.

The role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, permanent term-time, starting September 2026. Applicants must have GCSEs and a commitment to safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
  • Genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Patient, compassionate and resilient with the ability to build relationships.
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to engage pupils creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive learning across a broad curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Assist in delivering personalised education, intervention and behaviour support programmes.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage confidence and wellbeing.
  • Support pupils to develop social, communication and life skills.
  • Prepare learning resources and equipment for high-quality teaching.
  • Create an organised, stimulating learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress in line with school procedures.
  • Promote positive behaviour using nurturing approaches.
  • Collaborate with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to support pupils.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm

You'll become a trusted role model, helping pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience while creating a safe, nurturing environment where every learner feels valued and encouraged to succeed.Working alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral colleagues, you'll play a vital role in delivering personalised support that enables every pupil to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, creative and inclusive learning across a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Assist in delivering personalised education, intervention and behaviour support programmes.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support pupils to develop social, communication and life skills alongside their academic learning.
  • Prepare learning resources, classroom activities and equipment to support high-quality teaching.
  • Help create an organised, stimulating and welcoming learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupils' academic, social and behavioural progress in line with school procedures.
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent, nurturing approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure every pupil receives the support they need.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Is patient, compassionate and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Is proactive, adaptable and enjoys finding creative ways to engage pupils.
  • Works well as part of a supportive team while also using their own initiative.
  • Has basic IT skills and is confident maintaining records where required.
  • Holds a full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs is desirable but not essential—we're looking for the right values and attitude.
