Job summary

Kestrel House School in London is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will help pupils feel safe, supported, confident and ready to learn, building positive relationships and supporting their academic, social and emotional development.

This permanent, term-time role runs 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, starting January 2027. GCSE English and Maths or equivalent are required. The salary is £25,703.13 per annum, with UK sponsorship not available.

  • Support assessments, target setting, reviews and relevant documentation.
  • Assist pupils during activities, mealtimes, recreation and visits.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture where every achievement matters.

We’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team and play a key role in helping our pupils feel safe, supported, confident and ready to learn.

This is more than a classroom support role. You’ll be a trusted and encouraging presence in our pupils’ daily lives helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally, while celebrating their progress along the way.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support pupils in lessons, helping them engage, participate and achieve
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model
  • Support individual learning programmes and specialist approaches
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet pupils’ needs
  • Observe, record and share information about pupil progress and development

  • Support pupils during activities, mealtimes, recreation and educational visits
  • Contribute to a positive school culture where every achievement matters

About Us

Kestrel House School is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. We help educate and support pupils who have complex needs and specialise in the communication and learning challenges associated with Autism.

We want each pupil at Kestrel House School to achieve their own ambitions and to live fulfilling and productive lives. We want you to encourage everyone to achieve their potential and dream big, despite of any challenges you or they may face. This can be achieved by assisting and supporting the class teachers with the agreed learning plans, whilst also being responsible for safeguarding the pupils. This will include making sure they are healthy, safe and as comfortable as possible and assisting with the physical, emotional, educational and personal care needs for each individual.

The site is in London, Haringey Borough within Crouch End area, quite close to central London. The location has the advantage of easy access to public transport, having the over ground station located 5 to 10 min walk away from the school and a 2 bus stops right outside of the school front gates.
