Job summary

Coombe House School is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with the class teacher to boost pupil progress and promote independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. You will collaborate with the Therapy team to create a nurturing learning environment.

We welcome candidates who thrive in challenging, rewarding settings and who are passionate about social, life and independence skills development for pupils with SEN. DBS checks and safeguarding are required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH and neurodiversity such as autism.
• Experience as SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Youth Worker.
• Currently working in a mainstream Secondary setting and eager to take the next step into Special Education.

• Capacity to offer therapeutic support to pupils.

Coombe House School is an independent special school that provides education for pupils aged 5 to 19 with SEMH and ASD and associated difficulties, which represents the largest group of children and young people supported by an Education, Health, and Care Plan(EHCP)in Dorset and nationally. All pupils on roll have an EHCP. The school uses a therapeutic approach to support pupils with their individual difficulties. Everything the school does is based on the formation and maintenance of positive relationships and viewing all behaviour as communication.

Excellent salary range from £26,847 - £27,709 FTE per annum (Actual term time only for this position is £23,634 to £24,392 per annum). Working hours are:

Full Time (35 hours)

08.30 - 16.00 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday

08.30 - 16.30 on a Wednesday

08.30 - 15.30 on a Friday
