Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking Learning Mentors to support pupils across Cornwall in specialist education settings. You will work with pupils in classrooms, small groups and 1:1 to deliver targeted interventions and to support their wellbeing.

The role requires patience, resilience and excellent communication; GCSE English and Maths (Grade 5/C) are expected. You will use autism-friendly strategies and collaborate with teachers to help pupils reach their individual goals.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEND, including Autism and/or SEMH.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Excellent communication and listening skills; commitment to inclusive learning.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in the classroom, small groups, and 1:1 settings.
• Deliver targeted interventions to develop literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
• Use autism-friendly strategies (TEACCH, visual supports, personalised learning).
• Help pupils regulate emotions, manage anxiety and develop wellbeing.
• Promote independence, confidence and resilience; work with teachers and specialists to achieve goals.
