Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking Learning Mentors to support pupils across Cornwall in specialist education settings. You will work with pupils in classrooms, small groups and 1:1 to deliver targeted interventions and to support their wellbeing.

The role requires patience, resilience and excellent communication; GCSE English and Maths (Grade 5/C) are expected. You will use autism-friendly strategies and collaborate with teachers to help pupils reach their individual goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people with SEND, including Autism and/or SEMH.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills; commitment to inclusive learning.

Responsibilities

  • Promote independence, confidence and resilience.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Work alongside teachers and specialist professionals to help pupils achieve their individual goals.
About the successful candidate
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism and/or SEMH needs.
  • Understands social communication differences and strategies that support autistic learners.
  • Can build strong relationships based on trust, consistency and respect.
  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable.
  • Has excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Is committed to creating inclusive learning experiences for every child.
  • Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 5/C or equivalent).
