Job summary

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant at Whalley Learning Disability Service. The role is full time in a single-occupancy setting, supporting an individual with learning disabilities to promote independence within a safe, therapeutic environment.

You will work with nursing and the multidisciplinary team to implement care plans, observe changes in health and wellbeing, and maintain clear records while upholding dignity and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Experience working in a health, care, or support setting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Compassionate, patient, and professional approach to care.
• Flexible approach to shift patterns, including weekends and nights if required.
• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs.
• Understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support.
• Assist with daily living activities, personal care, and promoting independence.
• Support engagement in meaningful activities and community access.
• Work alongside nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team to implement care plans.
• Observe and report changes in physical health, mental wellbeing, or behaviour.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Promote dignity, respect, safeguarding, and inclusion at all times.
• Support positive behaviour approaches and therapeutic interventions where appropriate.
