We’re seeking an enthusiastic Learning & Development Lead to provide leadership and support to all our amazing colleagues as they develop and enhance their careers with us. In this vital leadership role, you will be at the forefront of driving a culture of engagement and excellence, helping our colleagues to feel valued, supported, and enabled. You’ll be a part of the wider Senior Leadership Team to help steer the overall direction and operational performance of the group.

Role purpose:
The Learning and Development Lead provides developmental insight and support to unlock potential across the business, in line with the overall strategic ambition, values and culture of the organisation.
This role will develop and oversee a centralised learning approach, coordinating and delivering a range of learning interventions.
• Provide leadership and a strategic approach to our learning and development offer to further the work of Elizabeth Finn Homes and how Elizabeth Finn Homes approaches that work
• Develop a framework of learning with our care homes to ensure all elements of the quality service we offer are supported, monitored and reported on to achieve continuous improvements
• Lead on the management and development of our learning management system (LMS), ensuring that appropriate training courses, resources and data can be stored, collated and reported on from it
• Develop and deliver a range of training resources to ensure that managers across the organisation are competent and confident to proactively manage people matters
• Regularly attend the various care homes to provide face to face learning and development activities and gather feedback on the learning and development offer
• In collaboration with departmental leads, review and procure appropriate third-party specialist learning resources, courses and tools to ensure a culture of continuous learning is embedded and supported across the organisation
• Develop a holistic approach to talent development and succession planning with approaches such as apprenticeships, acting up and secondments, external learning, mentoring and coaching
• Provide mechanisms to gather quantitative and qualitative feedback from across the organisation through tools such as surveys, focus groups and drop-in sessions, reporting on the findings to a range of audiences
• Ensure that all the people approaches used within our homes consider the dimension of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, supporting our EDIB Champion network to engage colleagues through activities, events and other support methods in this space
• Lead on specific projects of work relating to people management as directed by the People Director
• Contribute to specific projects of work relating to the wider organisation as directed by the People Director, or Chief Executive
Essential criteria:
CIPD qualified or qualified by equivalent demonstrable experience
Experience of developing and delivering a range of face-to-face, online and blended learning approaches to learning and development to achieve positive people outcomes
Experience of running a small learning and development function that operates across a dispersed geography
Experience of line managing staff to generate positive engagement and commitment
Knowledge of the latest best practice in relation to learning and development approaches and techniques
Ability to use IT systems including MS Office and a variety of database systems to collate, analyse, report on and make recommendations from a variety of datasets
Knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging approaches, having used these elements to contribute to a successful employee experience and increase engagement
Experience of managing a range of internal and external relationships and stakeholders to achieve improved employee experience
Experience of communicating in a range of ways with a variety of stakeholders to articulate an organisation’s approach, culture and values
Knowledge of the care home sector, or a willingness to develop this knowledge especially in relation to people management practices
Desirable criteria:
Experience of overseeing discrete projects of work
Experience of being part of a wider leadership team, contributing to the
implementation of organisational strategy
Position: Learning & Development Lead
Location: Hybrid: home working with regular travel, primarily to our eight care homes
Reports to: People Director
Salary and benefits
• Full-time permanent role.
• £55k plus non-contractual bonus up to 6% of salary
• £6k car allowance or company car
• Competitive pension up to 9% and wider benefits, including sector- leading enhanced family leave, generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working arrangements in line with service needs, 4 weeks Occupational Sick Pay following successful completion of 6 months’ probation, private medical and dental insurance, death in service payment – 4 x salary and a refer a friend scheme that pays up to £500 cash bonus per referral.

The first stage of the process will be an interview via Teams and held on the 12 and 13 June 2025.
The second stage of the process will be held in person at our Halliwell Care Home on the 3 July 2025 and will be a combination of running a short training session with colleagues and a final panel interview.
