Job summary

Pathway Academy Zone in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced Tutor to join our Alternative Provision team, supporting learners who may not thrive in mainstream education. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, differentiate for individual needs, monitor progress and safeguard welfare, working closely with Teaching Assistants to raise attainment and re-engage learners in education.

Ideally, you will hold a recognised teaching qualification and have experience with SEND/SEMH or PRUs, with

Qualifications

• Experience in Alternative Provision, Secondary schools, SEND or SEMH provision, PRUs, FE or vocational training.
• Recent qualified teacher status or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons for learners with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured and engaging lessons.
• Teach learners individually and in small groups.
• Differentiate learning according to ability and need.
• Support learners with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Help learners re-engage with education.
• Establish routines, expectations and professional boundaries.
• Monitor and assess learner progress.
• Provide constructive feedback and set targets.
• Complete learner records and progress documentation.
• Work with Teaching Assistants and pastoral colleagues.
• Support individual learning and behaviour plans.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and learner welfare.
