Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Learning & Behaviour Support Assistant in the Portsmouth area. You will support children and young people with SEMH needs, promote inclusive practices, and help them overcome barriers to learning. This role involves collaboration with schools, families, and education professionals to deliver targeted support and contribute to positive educational outcomes.

Start ASAP. Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Qualifications

• Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential.
• Experience in a UK school.
• Experience with children in education or similar settings.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable; training can be provided).

As a Learning & Behaviour Support Assistant you will use your teaching experience to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve positive educational outcomes. Working collaboratively with pupils, families, and education professionals, you will provide specialist guidance, model effective strategies, and promote inclusive practices that support long-term success.

• Deliver high-quality teaching and support, building positive relationships and nurturing pupil engagement.
• Support schools in developing effective plans and strengthening their capacity to meet individual needs.

Experience and Training

• Previous experience working in a UK School

• Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as training can be provided)

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional, child-related references
