Job summary

Midlothian Council is seeking a Learning Assistant ASN at Lasswade High School to support one student with additional support needs, enabling curriculum access. The role includes some moving and handling and personal care, with duties that may adapt if the pupil is absent.

The post is fixed term for 39 weeks per year, 27.5 hours weekly, working Monday to Thursday and Friday mornings, with PVG checks required and UK safeguarding procedures in place.

Qualifications

• Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy to enable effective communication with staff and pupils.
• Familiarity with child development and ability to respond to individual pupils' needs.
• Undertake additional training courses (eg first aid, calm techniques).

Responsibilities

• Support one specific student with additional support needs to access the curriculum.
• If the student is absent, provide alternative tasks to support other students.
• Role includes moving and handling and personal care where needed.
