Job summary

Novus at HMP Preston is seeking a Learning Support Worker for a permanent, part‑time role of 18.5 hours per week. The post offers a flexible arrangement where, for the right candidate, it can be combined with a second 0.5 role to form a full‑time position.

The role supports learners in their learning journey and requires commitment to inclusion and safeguarding. Applicants should have experience in assessments and supporting learning within diverse groups, and possess strong IT, reporting, and

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Preston, working as a Learning Support Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, part‑time basis, working 18.5 hours per week.

For the right candidate, this role can be combined with the 0.5 LSW role at Kirkham to create a full time role.

Site Information

HMP Preston is located within the heart of the city centre. The facility is a Category B Male prison that focusses on providing a safe and supportive environment to promote the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders back into society. The teams' aim is to create and enviroment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
  • Have experience of successfully working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
  • Proven track record of achieving performance targets
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely reporting
  • Demonstrate team working
  • Demonstrate efficient use of IT Systems to find and collate information
  • Have excellent customer service
