Job summary

KM Recruitment is seeking a Learner Engagement and Support Coach for a centre-based role. The position focuses on motivating diverse learners with additional needs, helping them build confidence, independence and achieve goals.

You will deliver inductions, assessments and pastoral support while promoting suitable courses to learners and coordinating with internal teams to re-engage those at risk.

Qualifications

• Maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent (Functional Skills).
• Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs.
• Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and related strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage learners.

Responsibilities

• Welcome learners, run induction sessions and initial assessments.
• Apply trauma-informed approaches to support learners with ACEs.
• Promote courses aligned to personal goals and career aims.
• Provide pastoral support to maximise engagement and achievement.
• Monitor attendance and re-engage learners at risk of withdrawal.
• Record assessment outcomes and maintain learner records accurately.
• Liaise with stakeholders to support learner progression.

Job Title: Learner Engagement and Support Coach

Location: Centre based

Salary: £26,200

Type: Full Time, Permanent

This is an exciting role for someone passionate about education and rehabilitation, who has the ability to motivate and inspire diverse learners with additional needs, helping them build confidence, independence and achieve their goals.

Duties:

• Welcome learners into education, preparing and delivering induction sessions, initial assessments and screening activities.
• Apply trauma-informed approaches to support learners with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and other barriers to learning.
• Promote education opportunities and support learners in selecting courses aligned to their personal goals, and career aspirations.
• Build positive relationships with learners by providing pastoral support, motivation and guidance, to maximise engagement, retention and achievement.
• Monitor attendance and participation, working in partnership with the internal delivery teams to re-engage learners who are at risk of withdrawing from education.
• Record assessment outcomes accurately on internal systems and obtain previous learning records.
• Maintain accurate learner records, registers, enrolment documentation etc. in line with contractual and organisational requirements.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, awarding organisations and partner organisations, to support learner progression and achievement.

Essential Criteria:

• Maths and English (Grade C or above – or – equivalent such as Functional Skills)
• Experience of supporting learners additional learning needs, personal, social and educational barriers to learning.
• Knowledge of SEND code of Practice, and effective strategies for supporting learners with additional learning needs
• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with all learners effectively.
