Job summary

Amey seeks a Senior Structures Inspector to join the SBIM Team at the Severn Bridge Maintenance Unit. You will lead the annual inspection programme and ensure reporting aligns with technical standards and client needs.

You will conduct site visits, prepare technical reports, and support training for junior engineers. The role involves multi-structure work, on-call duties and collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and engineering designs.
• Good working knowledge of metals, metallurgy, concrete and construction materials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Bridge and welding inspection qualifications as listed are required or pursued.

Responsibilities

• Implement contractual inspection requirements to meet client specifications.
• Supervise team members and develop training programmes for juniors.
• Carry out site visits and surveys.
• Prepare and review inspection reports, assessments and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and Amey procedures.
• Engage with clients, stakeholders and third parties.
• Support bid preparation and delivery on other contracts when required.
• Promote best practice and mentor apprentices across the contract.
• Work across three structures and contribute to on-call emergency response.
