Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking a Lead Engineer - Structures to drive technical leadership across Containment design, overseeing engineers and secondees. You will own complex structural challenges and deliver safe, robust solutions within Reactor Island scope.

Essentially Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with a track record leading civil/structural teams in regulated sectors. You will coordinate interfaces with safety case, systems and design teams while upholding codes and governance.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil Engineer or Chartered Structural Engineer status, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Experience leading civil and structural engineering teams in regulated sectors (nuclear, defence, energy).
• Strong expertise in structural analysis, design and substantiation.
• Experience applying relevant engineering codes, standards and governance requirements.
• Knowledge of complex loading scenarios and hazard assessment.
• Demonstrable experience delivering robust engineering solutions in challenging environments.
• Experience engaging with multidisciplinary stakeholders and presenting solutions through reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering activities across the Containment programme area, ensuring safe and high-quality delivery.
• Provide technical leadership on complex structural challenges and guide design justification and integration.
• Lead work packages from concept to detailed design, managing scope, priorities and risks.
• Coordinate interfaces with Safety Case, Systems, Mechanical and Plant Integration teams for compliant designs.
• Prepare and present technical solutions through governance reviews and stakeholder scrutiny.
