Job summary

Novotel is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in a busy hotel kitchen in Coventry. This hands-on leadership role focuses on delivering high-quality dishes, managing the kitchen team, and maintaining rigorous hygiene and cost controls.

You will lead service in the Head Chef's absence, develop menus, train staff and ensure consistent, excellent food and guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven professional kitchen experience at sous chef level or ready to step up.
• Recognised food hygiene qualification (IFH or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and cost management.
• Experience in menu development and timely service delivery.
• Ability to lead, coach and develop kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day kitchen operations in Head Chef's absence.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, service and hygiene.
• Assist with menu development and costed implementations.
• Coach, train and develop kitchen team members.
• Monitor stock, portion control, waste and cost targets.
• Ensure food storage, labeling and rotation procedures are followed.
