Job summary

Novotel Coventry is seeking a skilled Chef to join our hotel kitchen, delivering high-quality breakfast, lunch, and dinner while upholding brand standards and food safety.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with front-of-house and other hotel departments, and take pride in consistent portion control, waste reduction, and excellent service. Training and career progression opportunities are available within Accor / Fairview Hotels.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef in a hotel/restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual and professional.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks to agreed standards.
• Ensure all food preparation and service meets Head Chef specifications.
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Prepare orders accurately in line with recipes and checks.
• Adhere to portion control and report wastage to the senior chef on duty.
• Store food items correctly, with stock rotation and day-dotting guidance.
• Complete daily temperature checks for fridges and freezers as required.
• Receive, check and store deliveries within designated timeframes.
• Communicate clearly with front-of-house and other departments during service.
• Report maintenance issues, equipment faults or accidents immediately.

At Novotel Coventry, we are passionate about delivering memorable dining experiences for our guests. We are currently looking for a Chef to join our kitchen team and help ensure every breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack is prepared and served to the highest standard.

The Role

As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality food in line with brand standards, while maintaining excellent levels of food safety, consistency, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack menus to agreed standards.


• Ensure all food preparation and service meets the specifications set by the Head Chef and management.


• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.


• Prepare orders accurately in line with recipes, instructions, and checks.


• Adhere to portion control procedures and report any wastage to the senior chef on duty.


• Ensure correct storage of food items, following company policies on stock rotation, segregation, and day-dotting.


• Complete daily temperature checks for fridges and freezers as required.


• Receive, check, and store deliveries correctly within designated timeframes.


• Maintain clear communication with front-of-house and other hotel departments during service.


• Report any maintenance issues, equipment faults, or accidents immediately.

About You

• Previous experience as a Chef in a hotel, restaurant, or similar environment.


• Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety regulations.
