Job summary

Buckfast Abbey is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support and lead a kitchen team at San Benedetto’s within Northgate House Hotel. You will report to the Head Chef, help develop menus, motivate staff and ensure a memorable dining experience for guests and visitors.

The role emphasizes high-quality food, service delivery, teamwork, and adherence to safety and hygiene standards in a vibrant hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef delivering high-quality food and service.
• Ability to lead a kitchen team under busy services.
• Strong organisational and communication skills in a busy hospitality setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop menus and ideas with Exec Head Chef and Head Chef.
• Prepare and present high-quality food with care and attention to detail.
• Lead the kitchen team during service with calm, positive leadership.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, health and safety standards (COSHH, fire safety).
• Manage stock levels and minimise waste.
