Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in the United Kingdom is seeking a Lead Software Engineer – Software Reliability to design, build, and operate scalable Python services with a focus on availability, performance, and security.

You will apply SRE principles to raise engineering standards and partner with product teams. You will implement monitoring, chaos testing, and automated recovery, define SLIs/SLOs, and drive root cause analysis after incidents.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficient in Python and large corporate environments.
• Experience with AWS cloud, CI/CD, and security.
• Understanding of SDLC and automation focus.
• Familiarity with reliability engineering concepts, monitoring, and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable and resilient Python systems.
• Execute software solutions with design, development, and troubleshooting.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts ensuring constraints are met.
• Gather data to develop visualizations and reporting for software and system improvement.
• Identify hidden problems to drive improvements in coding hygiene and architecture.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and automated recovery.
• Define and measure SLIs and SLOs to track system health.
• Conduct chaos engineering experiments to test resiliency and identify weaknesses.
• Perform performance testing using JMeter to ensure scalability and stability.
• Collaborate with product teams to enhance reliability and participate in communities of practice.
• Foster team culture of diversity, inclusion and drive post-incident root cause analysis.
