Job summary

Agilis Recruitment invites applications for a Lead Software Engineer – C# / .NET, based in Cheltenham Spa with remote options. You will lead development of scalable backend services, APIs, and event-driven components powering high-volume platforms, using C#/.NET, AWS and Blazor UI where needed.

You will mentor engineers, perform code reviews, translate requirements into tasks, and contribute to delivery estimates.

Qualifications

• Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET.
• Senior/Lead engineer experience acting as a technical Lead.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Technical lead, mentoring other engineers and performing code reviews.
• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.

• Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.

• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – C# / .NET

Cheltenham Spa / Remote

£70k - £75k DOE

You’ll be working on modern, scalable software across C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems, with genuine scope to influence how the platform evolves. The business is also embracing AI-assisted engineering, giving developers access to modern tools and approaches to build better software, faster.
