Job summary

Agilis Recruitment is partnering with an innovative global technology organisation to hire a Lead Software Engineer focused on C#/.NET. You will build scalable backend services, APIs and event-driven applications in a modern AWS environment, contributing to distributed systems and AI-assisted engineering.

The role is in Cheltenham Spa with remote options, offering £70k-£75k DOE and opportunities to influence the core platform.

Qualifications

• Commercial Software Engineering experience with C#/.NET.
• Experience as Senior/Lead engineer acting as technical lead.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven or service-based architectures.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Technical lead, mentoring other engineers and performing code reviews.
• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
• Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.
• Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
• Support UI development using Blazor where required.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – C# / .NET

You’ll be working on modern, scalable software across C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems, with genuine scope to influence how the platform evolves.
