Job summary

Agilis Recruitment is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive design and delivery of scalable back-end services using C#/.NET, AWS, and event-driven architectures. You will mentor and lead engineers, shaping the evolution of the core platform.

The role involves developing APIs, working with PostgreSQL and cloud technologies, and contributing to microservices, while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to deliver high-quality software.

• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
• Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.

• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
• Support UI development using Blazor where required.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – C# / .NET

Cheltenham Spa / Remote

£70k - £75k DOE

You’ll be working on modern, scalable software across C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems, with genuine scope to influence how the platform evolves. The business is also embracing AI-assisted engineering, giving developers access to modern tools and approaches to build better software, faster.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET
• Experience working as a Senior/Lead engineer acting as a technical Lead
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.
