Job summary

Agilis Recruitment partners with a global technology organisation to power high-volume operations. You will work on modern software using C# and .NET, AWS, APIs, and event-driven architectures, with AI-assisted engineering tools.

As a Lead Engineer, you will mentor peers, build backend services, and contribute to microservices while ensuring quality through automated testing and code reviews. This role offers remote flexibility in a Cheltenham Spa / Remote setting and a £70k–£75k DOE package.

Qualifications

• Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Technical lead, mentoring engineers and performing code reviews.
• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
• Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.
• Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
• Support UI development using Blazor where required.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – C# / .NET

You’ll be working on modern, scalable software across C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems, with genuine scope to influence how the platform evolves. The business is also embracing AI-assisted engineering, giving developers access to modern tools and approaches to build better software, faster.

• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.
