Job summary

Agilis Recruitment partner is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Cheltenham Spa or remote. The role focuses on C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architectures and distributed systems to power high-volume operations.

You will mentor engineers, build backend services and contribute to AI-assisted development with modern tooling. Strong emphasis on design, testing and scalable delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET.
• Experience as Senior/Lead engineer acting as a technical Lead.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Technical lead, mentoring other engineers and performing code reviews.
• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.

• Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
• Support UI development using Blazor where required.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – C# / .NET

You’ll be working on modern, scalable software across C#/.NET, AWS, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems, with genuine scope to influence how the platform evolves. The business is also embracing AI-assisted engineering, giving developers access to modern tools and approaches to build better software, faster.

Responsibilities
