Lead Shift Team Leader – New ERF Plant

Job summary

Viridor in Tilbury, Essex, is recruiting 5 Shift Team Leaders for a full‑time 40‑hour week, initially Monday–Friday, then rotating shifts. The role includes a location allowance and participation in an annual bonus scheme, with a competitive overall package and a strong benefits range.

As a Senior Authorised Person, you’ll supervise the site and contractor activities, drive safety and efficiency, and help transition the ERF from construction to operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or management experience within an operational environment.
• An engineering qualification, preferably ONC, HNC or equivalent.
• A safety qualification, preferably IOSH or NEBOSH.
• A management or leadership qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Experience within power generation, energy recovery, utilities, the Royal Navy, process manufacturing or other heavy industrial environments.
• Knowledge of systems such as high‑pressure steam, boilers, electrical generation and emissions control.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Shift Team and supervise day‑to‑day operation of the plant.
• Drive continuous improvement and maximise process throughput.
• Supervise contractors and ensure work is completed safely.
• Plan, implement and monitor systems to maximise plant performance.
• Coordinate routine safety drills and maintain records accurately.
• Lead investigations into accidents and promote a safe culture.
