Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Lead SEND Teacher at a specialist ASC provision in Bridgwater. This role involves leading the provision, delivering high-quality teaching and supporting learners to achieve their academic, social and personal development goals.

You will work with the Head of Centre, promote inclusion, adapt learning to EHCP targets, supervise SEND staff and participate in reviews. QTS is required and experience with ASC is essential.

Lead SEND Teacher

Bridgwater Permanent Full Time Salary: Qualified Teachers' Pay Scale + SEN Allowance 1 ( 2,787 per annum)

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Lead SEND Teacher on behalf of a highly regarded academy in Bridgwater. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist ASC provision supporting students with Autism, ADHD and additional SEND needs.

Working closely with the Head of Centre, you will help lead the provision, deliver high-quality teaching and support learners to achieve their academic, social and personal development goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of Centre in the day-to-day running of the specialist provision.
  • Deputise when required.
  • Deliver engaging, inclusive lessons to small groups of students.
  • Adapt learning to meet EHCP targets and individual needs.
  • Support and develop SEND staff and Learning Support Assistants.
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress.
  • Contribute to Annual Reviews and personalised learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with families, colleagues and external agencies.
  • Champion inclusion across the wider school community.
About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience working with students with SEND, particularly ASC.
  • Understand EHCPs and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Be passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Be committed to professional development and reflective practice.
